SAINT-GUILHEM-LE-DESERT

Distance - 60 minute drive

Although it’s approximately an hour drive from Bois D’argent, Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert is absolutely stunning and really worth the journey. There’s a beautiful Benedictine abbey called Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert Abbey or Gellone Abbey. From there follow the winding streets, past the beautiful and unique shops down to the Gorges de l'Hérault, where you can kayak in aqua blue waters surrounded by the most stunning scenery.

Coasteering is very popular here – the famous ‘Point du Diable’ being a very high and famous point to jump off. There are a lot of kayaking companies to be found here too, or you can book online. We hear good things about Canoe Rapido, link below:

There are a few pop-up bars for refreshments, where you can park your kayak at the side of the water, so bring some cash. We hear amazing things about L’oustal Fonzes restaurant – La Cabanon, but we really like Sur le Chemin de Compostelle (no website).
